I am a formal linguist working as an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Broadly speaking, my research focuses on how semantic composition is constrained by syntactic structure, and how the output of the semantic computation is affected by the context of utterance and other language-external factors. The project that I am currently leading, Scale Structures in Natural Language, probes into these fundamental questions by examining expressions whose interpretation rely on "scales", mathematical constructs that allow precise descriptions of how different meanings relate to each other.
